not stripers but a recent trout report
Just wanted to give a report on the Deerfield River. I fished it Monday with a buddy on a guided drift boat trip - the same outfitter mentioned in OTW, obviously not a sponsor here so I wont mention names. I picked up the trip at a local trout unlimited fund raiser. I grew up flyfishing the Farmington River and have to say I was very impressed with both the river and the guide service. The drift boat is the way to go and our guide had us on lots of fish. If you have never been on a drift boat and you flyfish, don't hesitate to try it you'll cover tons of water and be able to fish spots where the fish would never see another angler. It was a tough bluebird day but we still managed to catch quite a few. He worked hard and we spent a very long day out there, trying different rigs and techniques until we found one that matched our skillset and the fishes attitude. That river has some really nice water and if anyone is looking for a change of pace or an early or late season freshwater fix the long drive is worth it.
