Jamie Oliver

Does anyone remember this guy as the Naked Chef a few years back when the Food Network was just getting popular? He seemed to disappear for a while, but I noticed he's been making some appearances on the Today Show recently, and has a show on The Travel Channel Tuesday's at 8:00, where he's traveling through Italy in a VW camper towing a makeshift kitchen, I think researching for a book. It's an extremely interesting concept, where he finds a small town and unique or non-traditional ways food is prepared, then he gets into sort of a competition with one street vendor cooking fish or at another place he hooked up with a small restaurant owner, learned the ropes, of the place, again with a unique catch-of-the-day approach, then actually had the owner turn over the restaurant to him to see if his twists on the local food were accepted by the people or not. I think you closet chef's out there would really enjoy this one.

I never really liked him, but the show sounds interesting.

There's something similar on FoodTV this season, Throwdown with Bobby Flay. A similar format...

But No Reservations with Antony Bourdain on Travel is the best current foodie show next to Iron Chef.

I watched it last night. Us Eyetalians are a tough bunch of food critics but he held his own. Good show, cool concept.
