My son asked me if I ever caught a blowfish (northern puffer). As a kid, we caught them like scup today...I have not seen one in 20 years...have you?

Pretty rare these days, I remember when we used to catch them by the bushel. Last one I caught was ahile scupping about 5 years ago.

The last few years there has been good sized populations of these in the bays on the south shore of Long Island. So much so they have been tough to get through as we bottom fished late summer early fall for fluke. Fun to play with and kids love them because they blow up when handled and good tasting too. Have not seen one in Rhode Island since I moved here.
