I have a livewell aereator I would like to use in my aquarium. Problem is it has gator clips and not a wall plug. Is there any device I can convert it to wall plug with?

Buy an AC/DC converter, cut the clips and wire to the converter. Should be all it takes

What if I cut the gator clips off, stripped the 2 wires about 6in. bare, then took an old cord with plug on it and cut the plug off with some wire, strip that wire, and connected the 2 wires to the plug wire, seal with electric tape and plugged it in? Would this be dangerous? I know a little confusing, I'll make a diagram -

that'd be horribly dangerous

buy the converter. know those things that come with cd players so you can listen to cds without batteries? thats what a converter is. ide think you would rather work with 12 volts rather than 120.

find out what the voltage is for the pump, im guessing 12, and then go to radio shack or and electronics store and buy the converts. cut off the gator clips, strip them bout 1", then cut the converter wires and strip an inch. splice, electric take it or use a wire twist thingy plug in and your done. be careful.

if you dont know nothing bout electricity or have never wired anything before have your dad show you. thats what i did. i been zapped before, it aint good.

thanks guys. stupid idea on my part. thought it would be dangerous. bought a 2 peice convertor: cut the gator clips off, stripped wires, attached them to this car lighter plug thing, and attached that to a special wall plug. $20 raio shack.

PROBLEM: When I plug everything in, the light on the wall plug, instead of being solid green, is flashing green, and every flash the motor on the aereator is turning.
Does anyone know the problem? Tried it on a few different outlets, same result.

I ended up buying a convertor, its a metal box, 3 amp or something....attached the wires and now its pumping away, the surface is like a calm day on the ocean, there is alot of movement and ripples, although it is a little loud, I can sleep with it though.

I looked up some filters, this aeretor is 500GPH, and similar filters taht pumped that much were $60+.
Maybe i'd be better off with one but I have this collecting dust....everythings set up now....
How long should I let the water filter around before adding a few eels to test it out? 2 weeks, a month?

Those eels will be albinos in less than a week. The way to do it (didn't we cover this before somewhere?) is to put them in a dark corner in the basement, in a large dark container with a well sealed lid and aerator

lol.....na its just a little log that the eels can hide in....wont matter now though since itll be nice and dark and quiet....

I never have to change the water in this tub, right? And should I feed them feeder fish to fatten them up or just let em be??

Vic, when u do a search, be more general. Like "eels" or "eel tank". Youll get more returns. Keeping eels alive wont get you nuttin

I'd be real careful about using converters or whatever. If this thing is running round the clock in your basement and you have too much voltage or current , you could risk a fire. You better know exactly what you or doing!
