How about a BB forum that emphasizes beach use issues and contributes to the cause by volunteering for cleanups, etc. ?

Yes, have conservation assistance a priority but hopefully be a place were 4wd can share their opinions on all fishing related topics INCLUDING vehicle makes and dimensions.

I think some polls need to be conducted to determine who fishes what and how.

There are a lot of techniques that the beach driving fisherman needs to know and can develop. I think we are aware that there is a Boat forum.

I wouldn't worry to much about it becoming the "MUD BOG RACING, Racing, racing....... forum.

Beachwalker, MBBA has a handle on the beach/volunteer cleanup situation, and most beach buggy drivers are members, and we can all lend a hand when we are on the beach. I for one have picked up discarded tires, rope and trash of all kinds and humped it off the Race in my Jeep when the need arose. (People are such slobs) Other sites have BB Forums and if we get one we could talk about anything you would like I am sure incuding conservation and volunteer cleanup. What would be better than teaming S-B up along with the MBBA for beach cleanups?

BF,

You are right about MBBA. Living out on the Grey Lady the MBBA is unrepresented and I wonder about MV ? I (and others) pick up a lot of trash every year and the majority of it is flotsam from the offshore world. Along with loads of dead whale, seal, tuna (yes tuna !), turtle and the occasional human to examine (2 a few years ago), the amount of commercial gear and jetsam is so substantial that the collection of high flyers got so big one year I had to make a multi trip dump run !

I just believe that it would be nice to talk about beach driving/fishing from an informative and information friendly perspective.

Of course, tips on locations of certain access points would be strictly confidential. Ahem, hmm, hm....

I really think it would be a lot of fun. Might have some initially percieved impact on beach charter fishing but, in the long run, I'd have to say it would benefit beach charter because it would bring more focus to the fun of it all.

Maybe we could also train a squadron to eliminate the seals that our attacking our shores. It is our patriotic duty !

i think we decided that it would be just more dillution to the site. if anyone has any beach buggy issues, questions, or tips, they can be brought up here or in the F.A.Q. forum.

Sorry I wasn't paying attention or wasn't a member yet when that decision was figured out.

I drive on the beach everytime I go and it is something that is a normal element to fishing here. I definetly comprende if there isn't enough interest to warrant such a forum.

I don't recall reading any such decision!!! I for one think we should give it a shot! We have a Boat Fishing forum, how about a surf fishing forum or beach buggy forum (same thing). Other sites have both (and I really do not like any of those OTHER sites) too much pollution aka horsecrap!!

I was under the impression, from the original post, that the general concensus was that it was covered here in the main forum.
I won't answer for John, but I though from his comments, i.e. K.I.S.S. and L.I.T.F.A., that, that, was that.

As a past member of the Board of Directors of the MBBA, and past Publicity committee member, I had asked, and was granted permission from John, to post information about the MBBA Spring Cleanups on the Conservation Forum, and posted on the calender. A few from S-B.com showed up, that I know of, and maybe others did, that I was not aware of.

Beachwalker, I do know that we do not have many, if any, members from the islands, but I know we do have one Excecutive Board member, who is very much in tune with the politics of beach buggying over there, and keeps a watchfull eye on the situation there for the club.

Yes, there are other BB forums on some other sites. Some lay dormant, and others go on ad-nauseum, to borrow a quote from a fellow past board member...

If it happens here, I will be there, however, I think any one posting a comment or question on the main board, would get there answer, or opinions in a straight forward manner. Those of us that do use our buggys for fishing, already know the basics. I would not say that all surf-casters are beach buggy enthusiats... I have run into more than one that parks in the main lot, and walks, and can't stand the idea of any one, fellow fisherman or not, driving on the beach.

Not looking to stir the pot, or rain on anyones parade.. just my 2 cents worth.

Hey, it's John's call no matter what!

But whyyyy yyyyyyyyyyy

Obviously plugging for a new forum of this nature isn't going to get much support with the season being at it's end and anticipation running slow.

There is some cool chit that you find out on them beaches. Lot of different spots and ways to fish. Karl, I get the feeling you know that and completely respect your stance on the issue.

I think that a Beach Buggy/Surf Fishing forum would remove much of the "ad nauseum" from the Stripertalk forum. Take a look at the Boat Fishing/Boating forum....there is much "ad nauseum" there, and on a couple of the other forums for that matter, nobody seems to mind that too much! I know I don't, it simply adds to the fun in my opinion and gives some of the newbies that will come along a little more of a general direction when looking for info. I know much of just about everything is discussed on the Stripertalk forum, maybe having a Beach Buggy/Surf Fishing Forum would alleviate a little of the "ad nauseum" from that forum and cut down on some of the "traffic", for want of a better term, on the Stripertalk forum! Just my .02 cents....errrr.....08 cents worth. I still would like to see it happen! OK....09 cents worth!

Goose, I agree to that. This site has been surf-oriented. We have boat-oriented here too.

BF- About the horsecraps thing, what about human's excrements? I once busted a stupid "gluck" (from the malibu's wanted) taking a numbero 2 on the bench close to the cvs and town river marine patrol's dock. So we might step on them someday, but hey, you can't blame a person crapping on the beach due to the inavailability of porter-house. At least a person can be decent enough to bury it. And I hardly recognize the "ad nasueum" on the boating site...

Yes, seals must be outta chatham and monomoy!

Guys - the reason why there is no "surf forum" is because the main board is the surf forum and other things too. We started the "boat forum" a year and a half ago or so as we were getting more and more boating questions ( I suppose I can take "new" out of the description now). Oh yeh, while boat fishing must be done from a boat (and therefore included on the same forum ) Surf fishing is most often not done from a beach buggy hehehe.

The Main Forum has always tended to be more surf oriented. In my unofficial numerology, I figure we are 75/25 shore / boat with some of those people being dual anyway...

As for opening up another board just for beach buggy stuff, a few of the non-instigating old timers ( ) came up with some simple reasoning, just to keep it simple. With that in mind we'll likely stay status qoe for a while

Bummer. I can't believe that we have forums like fly fishing (which basically has zilch response) and other unused forums, etc.

I guess it takes all kinds.

I respect the decisions that all have made here but do NOT see "Surf" being the same as "beach". Two totally different sets of circumstances, etc.

But if no one is into learning how to be a better oversand fisherman then so be it.

More like a bridge fishing wankers forum. Maybe it can include tips about throwing yourself off, too.

How many miles of bridge are fished compared to miles of beach ?

fact is as much as I myself like the beach buggy forum Idea I know what will happen.....everyone will post for a few days maybe even a couple weeks and then sit vitually untouched like some of the other forums.....I think that stuff can go on the main forum.

ok and stupid question.....just what is the difference between a surf fisherman and a beach fisherman?????
