Some rookie questions....

What basic colors would you all suggest? My thoughts right now are white, black, yellow, red, blue (turquoise?), puprle, olive, pink and chartreuse. Is it worth getting a few of the pearescent colors? From what I can figure out, you need to thin the paint to spray (I'm looking at Createx). Pluses and minuses of single vs. double action airbrush? For primer such as BIN, is that sprayed on as well?

Hi Steelhead, You will be able to use all of those colors. I use mainly pearl paints. But you can also fog pearl white or silver over the opaque colors to get a pearly look. You may also want to have some chameleon colors for some fishy looking effects.
I would recommend a dual action airbrush as you will have more control over your paint flow after getting used to it.

Good luck,

Bernzy

Those colors sound good to start with. I went to A.C.Moore and bought a bunch of small containers of Createx. I also bought some empty jars that work with my air brush. I mixed up some random cool colors and store them in the jars. I use a Badger 360 double action. It works great, but I have nothing to compare it to. I have never needed to thin out the createx, I just shake it up real good before I use it. As for priming, I wait until I have a bunch of plugs to do and then I use a throw away paint brush. Good luck.
