Camping on Patience Island Memorial Day Weekend!
Launching the boat(early sunday morning) out of East Greenwich Bay for the first fishing expedition of the season! Hoping to catch some stripers off of Conimicut Point, Ohio Ledge and maybe some fluke down off of Warwick Point. Plan on digging for some clams at Pojac point (if I can get a license in time) and hopefully have enough food to cook for our stay on Patience Island!!!
Is there any decent fishing right around the Island?
Does anyone have suggestions of other nearby locations or techniques to make sure we don't go hungry for our stay on Sunday night??

There should be fish all over...
Suggestions:
Get one of those Capt. Seagulls fishing charts if you don't know the area...
Only go into areas that boats bigger than yours have gonr through without holes...
Think Herring - Live, Fresh Dead. Those should be you bait of choice for the grill down there...
Enjoy

One word....Quohog
They are everywhere in Narragansett Bay. Especially around that area. Assuming the water is warm enough you can just go out about chest high and feel in the sand with your foot. When you feel something like a stone , duck down and grab it with your hand. Some people get them in waste deep water . You just got to find a good spot.
Even easier , just cruise out and look for a whole bunch of little boats with guys raking the bottom. They are everywhere in that area. Ask to buy some qhohogs. Usually 13 to 15 cents a piece which is way cheaper and way fresher than any market.. The smaller ones are better. I've never been refused when I've asked to buy.

Gus good luck on that weekend / there is only one place to really camp on that island, thats the pocket everyone lands just around the corner of the N/E corner--- between the islands be ready for nats and the like ,care ful of the ticks You can also cross over to Prudance and find a place to pitch a tent. Or you can go around to Potters Cove if all the moorings arn't gone /anywhere around either place you can get little necks or chowders or any of the diggers will sell them to you ,but figure on 20-25 cents a piece for little necks[ Saltheart like everything else prices are up] steamers are tough to find . fishing is ex,cellant in the area but watch out for the rocks .Any more questions before you go just ask// later
