Question STUMPED!! deciding on a new plugging rod

Stumped big time on what i want to do... I almost bought a XS 101 MS.. but the Tsunami looked better and felt better... lol... then i grabbed a tri-flex TS 101 MS I didn't like the creaking/cracking noises comming from this one either... The sales guy told me it was because there was no underwraps and it was the foot of the guides rubbing on the blank.. i though... hmmm Tsunami underwrapped their $70 rod but ..ooh never mind.. Lami's were made to be bought CUSTOMIZED anyways...

Well.. i'm hearing from a few people different things... like
XRA1205
GSB1201L
CSB1201M
SSB1362M <---- cut 18" from the bottom

I throw plugs between 2 and 4 oz and spoons upto 5oz..
I have a setup that covers my 3/4 - 1-7/8 lures..
90% of the time i'll be heaving 2.5-3.5oz plugs.
I'll be using PP so any recommendations on guide type would be nice..
also doesn't need to be super light.. i don't want to give up power just to save some strength..
Thanks

GSB 120 1M. sweet rod! i have one i wrapped conventional, and it is my favorite rod! i am wrapping one spinning this winter. it can handle the small stuff ok, and is awesome on the big stuff! i would highly recommened this rod.

as far as guides, fuji hardaloy high frames and an SIC tip. if you need guide sizes, let me know and i'll get the #'s for you.

The GSB 120 1L and SSB 136 2M are too light for what you want. Go with either the 1205, the 120 1M, or get the SSB 136 3M and take a foot or so from the butt

The sizes you said to throw I would go with the 1205. The 1201M would have a tough time with 2oz a little light for that rod.

i throw stuff less than 2 ounces with my conv. 1201m all the time. i would say less than 1 ounce would be the lower limit, but even that is possible. if leptar is doing this as a spinner, i don't even think that would be an issue.

see what happens when you listen to your local rod builder!

that blank will throw 1.5 oz - 4 oz perfectly, with a sweet spot 2-3oz.

Sorry but I have a hard time throwing 2oz and smaller wood with this blank.Lamiglas their rating for the blank is 4-12 granted it is over rated but or optimum distance I would choose the XRA any day

Thanks alot for your inputs are really appreciated...

Yes it's for a spinning rod.

I've stopped using my Penn SBG-6810 from performing it's heavy tasks.. $ for $ if they still made the penn spinfisher the same way.. i wouldn't be asking about lami blanks.

It's an original model .. too bad Penn doesn't make'em like this anymore.. although from $215.99 to $71.99 and an extra letter in the model# kinda tells ya something is up..

narrowed it to the XRA 120 5 and the GSB 120 1M

Now which guides to throw on.. lmao.. never ending story....

I was thinking alconites but.. i dont know if i want to start with 60mm guide. If i started with a 60 mm i might just try a different co. like PB or American Tackle.

... How do you have that blank setup? casting or spinning and is the spine reversed?

I have that Penn SBG-6810 the reel is a Penn 6500ss and PP 50# i can throw 3.5oz polaris poppers easy 350+ feet..

I want a new plugging rod.. I've over worked my rod last year and now i fear it.. I really don't want it breaking on me.. i'm sure it will still handle bass to 30 easily.. but i did alot of no-no's.. lifting the fish with the rod... watching guys catch tautog and putting a rig on just to flip rocks.. ect,ect,ect... probably nothing new to some of you.. but i heard it make noise.. not quite a crack but more of a creaking sound.. thats when i pulled a dumb move and threw a king mackerel rig out to a school of mackerel and whamo.. i hooked into 2 bass 1 was 20 the other was 26.. lets just say it was fun, and i won't be doing that again.
