Question Question

When sanding the flat spot on a Danny head ,do you sand the open grain side or the closed grain,or doesn't it make a difference?
THANKS

I don't sand it at all. I just break the edge a little. The chop saw does a fine job crosscutting it.

Question POORLY PHRASED QUESTION

Thanks guys for the tips. I think i phrased the question wrong. What i really wanted to know was if the open grain should be on top or the side of the plug?[ Like a baseball bat]Which would give the plug the most stength or doesn' it make any difference?
I'm thinkin razor lips spliting plugs here. THANKS

Grain should run lengthwise on the plug. Otherwise you could just bend it between your hands and snap it.
Wood is always strongest going with the grain.

Bugger, I don't think that is what he means. I'm sure he is turning the plugs with the grain going lengthwise

I think what you are asking is if it matters that the sawkerf slot for the lip is cut along the line of the grain or against it, right? I do mine any way it lands, it shouldn't really matter, if it is gonna split, then it will split. Never had it happen though.

hey Slip youze a dodo too.....read it again

He said RAZOR LIPS

NOW I understand what he asking, no it doesn't matter which way the grain goes, not going to make a difference in strength.
