Mike that rod you just bought will throw just about anything. A guy we both know told me once that he put 12oz on and attempted a cast. He really laid into it expecting the rod to just buckle. Well he cast the weight out there and the rod recovered perfectly. "it recovered with a crisp snap , it didn't get all floppy". The only drawback to that stick is that it isn't happy unless it is throwing 3ozs on up.
Like mikecc stated it will work fine just can't get into some of the tighter spots because of its length. I use the 10' version (yes JP and Slip turned me into a spin jigger

)and love it. I have the 126MH lami in conventional too but it just hangs in the rafters now and is only used to throw large wood. Don't get me wrong the lami is a great rod but doesn't compare to the AllStar/BreakAway in performance or price. Have fun with that rod Skittah it is a piece of equiptment capable of reaching the other side of the Ditch.
