Not yet! I got Bassmasters old Grizzley.....messed around with it some but I am limited on space (no work area, small apartment) and I am not one for turning in a garage that is at 3 degrees. Soon, very soon! I might take the lathe over my buddies auto shop and play!  |

Karl, what you have there is a Gag's wooden needle from the eighties. I got a few. I have one exactly like that and I bought them at the old Cape Cod Rod&Reel ( Now the Powder Horn) in Hyannis. Rig it and fish it they work great.  |

i have a few of those. they are gags as Flap said. that is the only gags plug i will ever throw, except for throwing mambo's in the trash!  |

Karl, can you see the slot for the screws thru the paint? The ones I have were weighted with reg. flat head wood screws.  |

Well, in my humble opinion, the Mambos just aren't that durable.
Paint comes right off.
Areas where the hook swivels meet the body plastic - they crack easily.
Same thing could be said for the whole plug.
Don't get me wrong, I fish a lot of Mambos. You just have to have a lot of them to get you through the night.  |

as krispy said, they WILL break! i purchased quite a few mambos over the years. not a single one has lasted more than about a dozen fish. i broken the front eye, the bottom eye, and the back eye. this is all on the 7" model. the combo of braid, a graphite rod, zero drag, and big fish equals lure failure. i was only using mambos on the CT river, and then only in shallow water. the only reason i stuck with the lure for so long was that it did produce and i had no other lure that would work in the <3' water in some places on the river. two seasons ago i discovered a lure that takes the mambo's place. it catches better than the mambo ever did and i have as yet to break one. i posted once last spring as to what lure it was. i will say one hint, it is nothing new to the market.......

Plastic Is Not That Fantastic!
I much prefer wooden plugs myself...not a huge fan of any plastic plugs! I own some and use them once in a while, but I throw wood 98% of the time.

No slot, most of the paint is chipped off one, but it ain't lead,(I think), not soft like lead, can't shave it with my knife blade, but it is shiny, no corrosion on any of the metal showing on whatever they used for weight, just on the original treble. |

Mambos are glued together in halves, and they tend to crack along the belly seam. When they do, the hook hangers just pull right out. It doesn't even take a really good fish to do it  |
