Pure Fishing bought out STREN
Got a letter from pure fishing today notifying me that they had purchased all of Remington outdoors. which includes Stren.
What do you guys think. They just purchased Mitchell Spiderwire Co.3 years ago.
do you think your options for lines are now going to be more limited or do you think they will run it as 2 seperate line companies.

logically
the best line for fishermen
or might i say best several types of line.............
....................should be designed BY fisherman
and the line manufacturors should be told specifically what we want in a line.... abrasion resistance, castabilty, pound test ect.
well in advance of them making the decision without our voices being heard. Just my thoughts here ok.....
the following was taken from the pure fishing site:
QUOTE: We listen. Anglers know what works for them and what doesn't. They, better than any other source, can tell us what would delight them.
So i wrote them and asked them if we could provide feedback for what we want.............more on that later.
in the mean time......
So .... WHAT would delight us?
Everyone speak your mind!

If you want to loose fish use Stren. When I had a few Nautil reels go bad pure fishing replaced them no questions asked and within a few days. But the comment you state about listening to fisherman about want we want.... NOT! They couldn't even give me a good explaination about the Nautil. Heck, the reel is a nice reel all they had to do is replace the cheap gears with good ones. I wish I was a machinist!

Recieved this from Pure Fishing
Hi Raven,
We always welcome the anglers point of view. We get our ideas about designing a line from anglers. We have fishing lines almost for every fishing applications. Please work with us to design better fishing lines. I would like to mention that we have a line that has been designed for extreme abrasion fishing conditions. The name of the line is IronSilk. Try this line and let see how it works for you and then we can improve ( if it does not work for you) this line or come up with a totally new line.
Thank You

Raven, glad to see you guys are open minded. I tried Iron silk and didn't like it. It was to stiff, maybe I didn't use it enough to break it in? I switched back to my Ace in the hole berkley big game, for my $$ that is what I will stick with. I always try the new stuff when it comes out because I'm a tackle junky, but I always seem to go back. Maybe you could get me an answer why they didn't fix the Nautil problem. I really liked the reels and for the money they were great. From what I read on this site and others there are alot of people who share my opinion you would have a big seller again.
