Chumming

Does chumming help attract striped bass in the canal at slack or near slack tide? I had good luck throwing in some chopped up bait and was wondering if anyone else has had that experience.

I'd say that chumming probably helps whenever you are fishing, certainly in a fish loaded area like the ditch...

There is one spot we fish where a guy tosses in some serious chum. I mean like two 5 gallon buckets full of chopped up pogies. He casts pogie chunks and lets them drift in the chum slick. I asked around and people say he does well this way. I've seen him doing it at and after slack approaching low tide. We usually set up down current from him for jigging.
