Striper Season

Commercial striped bass fishermen reached their quota of a million pounds in just 21 days in 2003

The DMF is going to try to extend the season by reducing the daily bag limit of 40 fish to: 20 fish Monday- Wednesday and 10 fish on Sundays. And this proposal is also suppose to stop the market glut which in turn keep market prices higher.
This still has to be approved by the striped bass advisory board.
And I'm sure that there will be public hearings before it is passed.

The 2004 commercial season is scheduled to open Sunday, July 11,2004

My own thought on this is that if passed it would probably extend the season by another week.
