Thanks,

I stand corrected
I personally don't start using eels untill the water is a little warmer and the fish are a little finicky-er.

Bass hate eels... It goes beyond a hunger thing, it has more to do with survival insticncts...They see them, they kill them.

I was told.....
That what happens is the eels try to get into the stripers gill plates and naturally the bass would not like that so...."BANG" its eels for dinner! I don't buy that though, I think ells are simply "bass candy" as they say!

Lefty Kreh said it best:
"Throwing an eel in front of a striped bass is like rolling a wine bottle into a drunk tank."
That pretty much says it all - as only Lefty can phrase things.
If the big girls are around, there's no such thing as too early.

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
