Talking to a highliner last night (well listening anyway) and he said there are big & bigger fish, 20-30 pounds, hitting from the Wellfleet Hollows and north - which is the spread he fishes nightly with eels... He said the bottom sides of the tides have been best... If you are thinking of trying eels, let us know and we can put some info up for you. Otherwise I'd definitely recommend chunk-tugging sand eels on the bottom...

Good luck and land a monster...

BOO! had horrible luck...but at least I got out....the strange thing was that I went out to dig for the sand eels and didnt come up with a SINGLE ONE!!!I talked to at least three others who said the same!!! What gives??? they have always been in that area this time of year!! Though I did notice that the botttom seemed to be rockier than I ever remember it being....could the area have changed that drastically in a years time????? or is it all just in my head??

anyway on the plus side we had a relaxing time (minus the T-storm that rolled in one night) and met some great people along the way (not to mention I scored some cool home made lures! :P )

Don't know about the sand eels - kinda suprising though. You and the other half should come down to Rhody this weekend - a decent shot at some fish....

Jenn, Where'd ya rake? I was up there 6/14 - 6/18 & there was lots of big sand eels at hatches. Had to go about 6"-7" deep to get them though.

I was out there about two weeks later!! and yes I would say I was about that deep.....just my luck I guess! (bad luck that is) but what I dont get is that there were a handful of others who also had no luck either...never MIND the fish...I couldnt even get the bait...now how pathetic is that???? HA!HA! Hmmmmm.....come to think of it I didnt even "catch" a sunburn either.....and I ALWAYS manage at least that!
