Things seem ok here. If you do get e-mails from us with a virus, please let me know through our board---thanks!

I checked the mail server and things seem ok.

Viruses ........ just think how much time & money is wasted on this. People spend countless hours thinking them up, and then spend countless hours trying to destroy them. Some market they created!

e-mails from yourself??

It is possible that you may have a virus. E-mails from yourself that contain viruses may indicate a mass mailing from yourself.

All your definitions up to date? Is the software current or an old version? It makes a difference. Old versions can be outdated and although kept current with definitions may not stop new age threats.

Take some air out of those tires.

i got the fishing emails and when i opened them got a wierd messege saying if i was unable to read the messege to go to the link on the bottom of the email, which was my email address, so i clicked it and it took me to the yahoo sign in and then i got hit with the other 2 emails from myself...so i have no clue what is going on there....i didnt open the second email from the srtiper one, just deleted it....

just figured sumtin fishy is going on, and its not my rod bending

i did an update on norton and scanned my computer and stuff, and nothing came up...but that doesnt mean nothing either...

What version?

What version of Norton are you running? 2004? Might not be a bad idea to upgrade if you have not already done so.

Try downloading a copy of ad-aware, update the definitions to that, and then run it on your machine to see if you have malware, spyware, or etc running on it.

These are not classified as viruses, yet do just as much damage as a virus would in a different way.

MrsSFrances,

If you had to type your username and password, I would go and change it. You may have done that on a "virtual Yahoo page" and they may have stolen you password info. That is one of the scams used to steal usernames / account numbers and passwords putting a link on the bottom of an email. The page are a redirect to the scammers website with a fake header to yahoo.com

A virus will grab all emails address in someone's address book and send them out with different "from" names. Looks like someone on the board has a virus and is sending out to all email address in their box. Its not JohnR, it can be anyone.

I have McAfee viruscan loaded, and I'm not having any problems with anyone from this website.

COX almost virus free

I have Cox for an ISP an they run anti virus before the e-mails get to me. I have not seen a virus detected in quite some time.

On occasion Cox sends an e-mail informing me a virus was found on such and such message and was removed.

They also provide a spam filter that has proven very effective. I was getting 200-400 spams before, and now I gewt maybe 35 to 50 instead. What an improvement....
