Question

hmmm, good question.

I used to use something like a Gama Octopus 3/0 or 4/0 (regular style), but there was a high percentage of gut hooking when using these hooks for stripers. So I stopped worming for bass altogether.

Might I suggest starting at 3/0 or 4/0 in the Gamakatsu Octopus Circle hook line?

For bass? I would go with a much bigger circle probably around 8/0. Bass have a big mouth and will have no problem inhaling an 8/0 hook.

I agree with Mike, an 8 circle will work fine. Plus you can put more worm on it.
