Plug-Man

Anybody ever try lures made by a 'know it all type' named Plugman. He drives the southshore in R.I.

Hi, Rich. I have tried and use his plugs occasionally. They are perfect for blues and not too bad on bass either. His has a number of different sizes and about 406 different colors. They may not have the most pretty finish, but for the price, you can't go wrong. I'm not sure of this year's prices or "shop hours", but you can expect to see him in the fall by Sept 15th driving his red mazda pickup w/ a cap.

First about the plugs. I honestly believe that Plugman's poppers are the best value in poppers anywhere. They all float (he tests them), they are through wired , and they all have good hooks. Last year he was selling them for 6 for $25 or close to that. Anyway , he makes very good plugs. No you don't get a million dollar paint job and the ones with "sparkle" on them look tacky but they catch fish. When Atom changed hands , I started buying all my poppers from plugman.

As far as the "Know it all" comment....well all I can say is that before he got a little older and started spending more time making and selling plugs , he was one of the best fisherman in that area. Since he is there all the time , either fishing or selling , he knows what's going on in the area between Misquamicut and the Charlestown Breachway. You'd be far better off listening to what he has to say and using your own filters , factoring it into your fishing plans than , you would be just writing him off as a know it all.

Hopefully the next Rhody leg will coincide with this Plugman being in the area. At that price I would probably take a dozen. Atoms are about 7-10 dollars a pop. No pun intended.

His name is Del and you will find him most every evening just after dark and early morning at Quonny, he fishes the breachway from the first parking area to the boat launch. He can be found crusing the beaches after September 15th from Watch Hill to Charlestown.

BTW on a hot sticky night, be careful not to rub the sweat from your forehead after touching a PLUGMAN PLUG, you are liable to glitter in the dark. They are a good value.

He keeps a dog in the back, right?

I've run into him a few times - I'll need to check out the plugs though...

Rich,
I think it's along the same lines as the eels at Breachway tackle, you have to use theirs otherwise you won't catch fish, haha.

I'll stick to my old blue/white, and orange/yellow Atom poppers.

I think you can find a guy named clayman out there who swears by them though!!!!

He drives a maroon colored ford ranger with a cap on it, has a front bug deflector with plugman lures on it....

All I know is that they catch fish and they don't cost $10 bucks each!

Actually I have tried some of his plugs, I've had good luck with his smaller red and white poppers in the 4"-5" range, but his larger plugs don't seem to work as well as the older Atoms....
