Got hooked 20 mins into the trip.. Lasted the 8 hours to get it out.. Dumb doctors cut it out and gave me a staple

Now if that isn't a Bevis and Butthead moment than what is? BTW nice fish! Well worth the pain, and the friendly ribbing.

ayup... nice move there bud... nice fish but not worth the hook in head for 8hours...
disease travels that much faster with an open hole... not to mention any damage to the blood flow or nerves....
For what it's worth....
10 years ago a buddy of mine and I were fly fishing he took a 5/0 SS long shank hook to the back of the head more to the left and lower then yours... He stood standing for another 15 minutes before he passed out in 4' of water... I took him to the hospital and what happened was that the impact of the hook gave him a concussion...

As for disease.. Im sure eels arent the most hygenic of beasties, but I did get a tetanus shot last night as part of the fun..
