Reinforcing new waders

Just this year my 1 year old redington breathable waders started leaking. The leak is right in the crotch, when i take them off i look like the poster child from the 'good-nites' commercials.
I tried gluing the entire seam with marine goop, but they still leak. I've given up on them and have gone out and bought a pair of hodgman neoprene bootfoots. I had an older pair of hodgman neo's that lasted me 5-7 years, but then the seams started to leak once i did more and more saltwater wading.

Should i reinforce the seams with aquaseal while they're new, before they leak?

How long do your waders last before they leak?
