The ones in the middle are poppers right?
How do you get such a distinct color change without the overspray?
Great job!

Skin plugs, and lots of practice on the paint. If you experiment with how you hold the plug when you paint you can achieve these results. Practice on junk wood first though.

What a coincidence.
Blurple just happens to be my favorite color.

NG, that pearl Danny i got from u swims real nice. I have not tortured it yet, but I will this fall at M. Ill take a pic afterterwards when it has some battle scars. The yell/ red head Pikie is also killer. The glass eyes are a nice touch. The fat Blue and Pearl was a little over lipped i though, but ill soon fix that.It should do very well also.

Yes it is. But you'll have to ask JohnR to see a pic of it as he owns it now.

Nice plugs. I just made a skin plug but have the groove ahead of the belly hook.

Would a large breakaway clip be an alternative to a split ring for easier on/off of the belly hook when rigging in the field?

Also, do you skip the tail hook when using skins?

I wouldn't use a breakaway clip instead of a split ring. I don't put a rear hook on these.

Nice blurple, NG -

Hey, Throwing Timber - just cause someone lives in Newport - or visits - they ain't necessarily Newporters - - we don't have to claim 'em all.

I heard the BP tale locally and then got the rest of the lowdown from Blackeye and Newell Guy during the Mass Leg at the Ditch.....

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
