jiggin the ditch
Saltheart and I lined the ditch with some jigs friday night. There were some small ones hitting the surface close to shore. Bluefish are still around chomping plastic just behind the hook.I did slay one striper 32.5 Lg. I had a five week span where I hadn't felt a hit.
The stitches are out of my finger and I'm ready to slay some bass.

Nice fish Smokey. 5 weeks is a long stretch, that fish must have been a big relief.

Smokey, good to hear of something other than world record star fish. Maybe I'll help you guys reduce the jig inventory a little more.

Conditions were perfect. Can't believe there weren't more fish. Oh well. Smokeys fish was a good fish. Nice fight. We fished the east end for 2 hours with no luck then over to the middle and he got a fish. I got double chomped by a blue but no other action at all. Not even a bump.
I'm just paying dues towards that big one someday. Fishing should be picking up good with the cooler nights now. Best 2 months coming up.

Yes he put it back. It was bigger than what he said too. That was the fork length.

I started with white shad bodies then white with dark back, on takers. As soon as I changed to black curltails first cast I had a hit. Second cast I had it on and landed. Next Cast a small one on for 15 seconds. The rest were tail pullers. I remembered the 30 pounders you threw back for luck. Hopefuly by me putting this one back it brings me luck.

The truth is , every single eel skin jig we have made has been sold to a begging customer. I think Smokey got to fish one and I got none! We will be working to remedy that situation. Smokey's Fish was taken about 10:30 PM.
