Accurate Piranha pliers

Anyone have a pair? have an opinion of them ?
I have a pair, They SUCK!!!!!!!!!!
These pliers weren't cheap either!
They are supposed to be made of anodized aluminum!
More like made of lead, because the bend so easily!!!

I wanted a pair of Van Stalls, but couldn't get a pair at the time because the company was up for sale or some reason like that!
Called the company (Melton ) I bought them from and them said there was nothing they would do for me.

call accurate directly and *politely* complain about them failing. My bet is they take care of you. They make some very high end gear and cater to those that can afford it.

You might want to try a pair of donmar pliers. Same design as vs. and come in SS and Ti.

good luck

I love my $1.00 Ocean State Joblot specials!

Seriously, there is a neat little trick in keeping ordinary pliers longer-lasting.

Take a sponge or old toothbrush and regularly scrub them with an abrasive cleaner like Ajax or Comet.

Then, treat them with WD-40.

Note that there are some marine plier suppliers that sell plier sheaths immersed in WD-40 so that the pliers don't rust as quickly.

As far as Accurate goes, CALL THEM UP! Their service is nothing but top-notch and they make great reels (and gaffs). Let them know what your issue is and I'm sure they will take care of you.

Someone showed me the piranhas as well. They looked nice but it seemed that the jaws did not meet flush, and therefore I would deduct that they do not grip well. I've always measured quality in pliers by observing how well the jaws would meet. I have manley 8" needle nose pliers and they are strong and rust resistant.

The $1 joblot specials do the trick for me, just toss 'em out when they've gone to hell...

I would too!!!
I used the pair Capt. Mike B has a bunch of times and tried to get the same pair of Van Staal titanium pliers, but didn't want to wait for the sale of the company and availability to happen.
The Accurate cutters work good but definitely don't try to cut a hook with them!!!

I have to say I don't use my donmars to cut big hooks (small hooks yes). If you cut a lot of big hooks you want something like this:

WOW!!!
I got home from work tonight (1st time in a week & a half )
And there was a Fed ex package from Melton int. tackle.
Inside was a new pair of Accurate pliers!
no note to send the old pair back!!!
I can't conplain about their customer service at all!!!
But the new pair was bent also, right out of the package
Anyone want to do a 2 for 1 trade for a pair of Van Staal 7 in titanium pair?

i have a pair and haven't had any issues with em. they grip just fine although to the eye the jaws could be tighter. most of the line i use them with is 50# or greater though. good luck finding some VS pliers.

I got home tonight and had an e/mail from the Accurate company saying they have know of the pliers bending and have come out with a stronger pair and she told me to ship my old pair to them and they would send me the updated stronger pair!
I also talked to someone at Van Staal and they told me their pliers will be going out to vendors 1st week of Oct.

I got my pair on 5/13 /04, but I also have 2 pairs now and only paid for 1!!!
The new pair came in from Melton tackle this week so hopefully they are the updated pair, I'm a bit afraid to try to squeeze anything for fear of bending them, but the cutters work great on mono and braid as well!!!
