Trying My Hand At A Surfster!
Got a question.....my surfsters are 4 inches long....how should I weight them? Should I weight them at all? They look great shape wise and in all other respects but I want them to be correctly weighted. Any help would be appreciated......any pictures of your surfsters would also help!

Haven't ever seen them weighed.Hahn never weighed his 5in and the larger CC7400 series i copied from Tagger were not weighed. If you use the Tinman lip it will help in casting, and it digs in real nice. Also ,BM says to use the red cedar for the Hahn.

The 7400 CCB surfster is 7 1/4" long and weighs 2 1/2 ozs. 2 4/0 belly hooks and a 4/0 rear treble. The 7400 Special had 1 belly hook at 4 3/8" from rear of plug and a rear treble. It weighs 4 ozs. Loaded in the rear for us eastcoast guys.

Tinman makes killer lips, but the surfster lip he does will be too big for a 4 inch surfster. Try a #4 colorado blade.

Here is an original 7200 surfster. Lip is much smaller than the one used on the 7300 and 7400 sizes. note only 1 screw

316L stainless steel welding wire for thru-wire. You might find it locally from somewhere that sells welding supplies.
