castle island
is the place fishable at night? or is it closed? i'd hate to get down there and find out its closed

Its open all the time. Problem is, from 11pm-5am they close a gate heading out to the castle itself. You can still access the area via the footbridge and walkway. Pretty heavy fishing pressure at the outflows, it can get crowded. But there are decent fish around there at times. A lot of guys do well live lining herring there.

Nobody should give you a hard time fishing that location day/night.
try fishing the second lock (out wash) located by the Sugar Bowl it is a very fishy spot on the dropping tides @ sun up.
