Penn conventionals

Anybody use the penn 975 cs in the surf/canal? I was at a closeout sale a year ago and "stole" it from the guy who was going out of business ($100) brand new in the box. I have used it 2 or 3 times live-lining pollack and eels from a boat. Was wondering if any of you gus casted in the surf with it? I use my PennSS or Mitchell, but thought about giving the 975 a shot. Thanks.

Bronko, I would say keep it on your boat rod. I have the 975 and while it is a good solid reel it is not a good surf/canal casting reel imho. I'm not sure why either, for the $ it costs it should be a better casting reel than it is.
