newport?

was thinking of making the drive down to newport this sunday for some early morning fishing off the drive as things here in the north shore have been a bit slow...the thought up here is that this has been a dismal fall or things have yet to happen...anyway, RI always seems reliable even if it is not fully into the the fall run...any reports down there? day vs. night? any info would be much appreciated!!

Dismal so far

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
