Same thing happened to me Wed. night.Guy basically pulls his car up onto the beach and blares me with his high beams.
After a couple of minutes I start yelling "YOU'E KILLING ME WITH THOSE HEADLIGHTS."After saying that about a dozen times the guy finally walks down the beach and starts yelling "HEY!".Finally I turn around and start walking in towards shore and the guy asks me if I'm alright.I tell him no and explain to him that he basically sent every fish within a mile of me scurrying because you lit up the night with your high beams. He didn't seem to get it.

This is a typical Saturday night problem. There is this spot I fish on the cape in the spring and it seems like everyone likes to 'swing' by the beach and shine there headlights on the water to make sure it's still there. This is usually a Saturday night after dinner ritual.

People do the same at Nauset. Instead of finding their own fish, they hi-beam you to see if your catching.

It's the same everywhere. No use letting it get to you. I just rack the rod and wait till they leave.

There have been times when I've wanted to take an 11' conventional with a 5 oz bank sinker on the line with me down the steps on the North Neck side of Pogue Gut---windshield or headlights, makes no diff to me

the reason that thats done is :
#10 they think you cant see so they want to help you see better .
#9 they want to watch your tushy moving around in your waders .
#8 they want to make sure the water didnt leave .
#7 they are drunk
#6 they are afraid of the dark
#5 they are sexing it up and the lights add ambiance
#4 they didnt realize the lights were on ( like its lit up like a city )
#3 they want to piss off the guy by the water
#2 they are testing the high beam switch
and the #1 reason is ( drum roll FRED )
THEY ARE STUPID IGNORAMOUSES without a clue .

I was walking on the beach on my vacation with a flashlight with my wife, not flashing the light at him, and some guy fishing runs up to me yelling within a few inches SHUT YOUR LIGHT OFF IT IS HURTING MY FISHING...YOUR EYS WILL ADJUST TO THE DARKNESS!!!! I was 1/2 of a second of baching the persons skull in with my mag light. I told the guy to back the F$%K up before I take his rod and shove it up his a$$. He saw how big and pi$$ed off I was and walked back to the beach swearing at us. I then flashed my light on him until we were too far away.

The way I look at this light situation....the reason I am at the beach is WAY more important than any other persons reason. There was a reason why I had a light on the beach that night so maybe there is a reason why the folks turn on their hedlights or shine the light on a person in the surf. We have to take the drunken idiots out of the question but when folks flash their lights on you maybe they dony understand how the light affects fishing.

I don't think there is any reason to shine your light on someone at night, especially a fisherman who waits for is eyes to adjust to the darkness. I hate when I see someone on the beach and they pass by me with their light in my face.

Yeah, there's a reason they pull up head-on to the water, stop and hit the hi-beams. They're effin' clueless maroons

Dont get me wrong I am thinking of a place such as Head of the Meadow where the parking lot is right at the beach and the folks in the car want to see the surf.

I agree it drives me crazy as well but all I am saying is that just because the folks have no idea what they are doing when it comes to light and fishing on the beach does not mean you have to toss a 4oz jig at their car or, in my case, run up to me and start yelling and threatening a person with a flashlight.

I absolutly love the new vehicles where the lights come on when you turn them on........Have a headlight switch but if the light sensor sees dark the lights come on...............................One notch on the emergency brake keeps them off till you shift into gear but once they are on they are on........
