Merry freaken Christmas!! Here's your pink slip!
effin' bastids layed me off today for reasons that have nothing to do with work! 3 weeks before Xmas! There goes the bonus I was gonna use for the kids presents. Only good thing is I get a 3 month severance (they're sending a check to me each week until March, then unemployment kicks in if I haven't found work by then). Why couldn't they have done this during fishing season

Tony, if I knew how to do anything else I would have left the trade years ago. Don't know what else I'd be good at
I love what I do, I just don't love the way the business has changed.
Slingah, of course I'm gonna enjoy the holidays......I'm on a 3 month paid vacation Maybe I should take a trip. What's the fishing like in Jersey this time of year?

Call me 1-508-386-3932 if your interested in some driving very little this time of year but its a good way to add a little to those checks you just drive and pick up and drop off at airports easy.

Sorry to hear the bad news.
The best revenge possible would be to work for their competitors, and let them KNOW it.

CAL,
You'll get back on your feet soon. Economy's picking up a bit, and so is hiring. It might be a blessing in disguise - you can spend more time with your family during the holidays! It sounds like you got a decent severance package.
Maybe a fishing road trip to Hatteras in January is in order.
Keep your chin up - take it from a guy who's been laid off more than three times in the last four years. The first time I got let go was right smack in the middle of the fall run. Yaaaaay!
Here are some job hunt portals - I can pm more if you let me know what your work background is (and maybe where you live).

Chris, Lou was by your old shop. They got the DI in looks like they had the layoff planned out! I'll let you know if anything comes around.

Yup, I knew it was planned. Suspected it all year. But when it didn't happen I figured (hoped) it wouldn't happen till the spring run Either way, I'm SOOOO glad I'm outta there!
Is Lou still planning on expanding and getting another press?
Guy running the DI hasn't run a press in 15 years and never anything bigger than a duplicator. Wish I was a fly on the wall to see that

They have one Gym left, if it gets sold they plan to open another Copy Connect in Quincy, but it will only have copiers all the printing will be done by us in Weymouth. The workload has to increase quite a bit before he hires another pressman. Oh we have been getting alot of unsatisfied customers from a local place that love our service!

Sorry to hear about your job Cal. I lost mine at the end of October and while I'm upset about all the responsible things to be upset about, I'm really pissed it didn't happen a little earlier in the month.
AND, I cut out of a Salmon trip early to come back and work on a Tues.....by 2 I was already heading home
