its basswood. i might have to snag another piece from school and do a plug. this stuff is SWEET.
that was all with an exacto kit, slicing and chizzling away at it. then the last 2 days ive been sanding it and I did that 1 eye. ive probly got like 8 hours on this thing. ive lost track though. i get 45 mins a day in school to work on it, about 2o mins of that is just f-ing around but its real nice getting to play with wood in school.
i cant wait to do the gills and the open mouth..put some more life into it.
as you can see i kept the tail and the fins pretty thick so they wouldnt break off while i was shaping, theyre the next step i think ill do.

Basswood... uh  , by all means rifle the inventory a bit... think pants with real big pockets 
Great for plugs.
