NC Stripers

Can't take it any more... Me and a friend are going to pull his Grady 555 miles from Old Lyme CT to NC for some winter Striper action next weekend.

I found a great website on a member of this sites recommendation

ncwaterman.com and found some great stuff on NC fishing...

The Stripers or Rocks as they call them are definitely there

MTC- you beat me too it, the ncwaterman site is very good, some great videos on there also to download. OI was incredible this past week fish are stacked up.

If you tow down you might want to plan for a weekday fishing as all the boat ramps are packed, there was a 2-mile backup on the highway for trucks towing boats waiting to launch this past weekend at the Pirates Cove ramp funny thing is most of the plates on the trucks were from the North...

I just brought my boat down there to drop it off a few weeks ago, do yourself a favor and tow at night

I booked a charter for this trip. Next year we may tow and leav it for a month or so...

I think that is the smartest thing ya can do "Charter 1st !!! and learn the area and what they use in their neck of the ocean!!!!

To many things can happen when trailering a boat a long distance especially if not maintained thru out the year!!!!

Make sure you stay within 3 mile of the beach. A lot of the boats don't and the coasties come out every day issuing big $$ tickets.

I'm bringing Hab's and Bucktail's along with my Quantum light spinning and a heavy spinning rigs. My buddie is bringing similar setups. Were driving the new 04 F150 I just picked up as a Tax write-off... Got the Garmin iQue loaded with roadmaps all the way down to Wrightsville Beach. Too bad my wife dosn't want to come to my aunts wake.... (Boy can I brand drop...)

We will be fishing on a 22' Angler that has been doing very well. The weather looks ok... photos to come (I Hope)

I'm going down there on the 17th and 18th of Feb. They have been crushing them when it is fit to get out!

Check out oregon-inlet.com I would book a charter. If your looking for a good smaler boat pm me. Are you driving... Go east before Washington and hug the coast. It's less miles and a more enjoyable ride.

I booked both days with Donnie from DOA charters. I called around...and he seemed to catch my attention the most! I woundn't even consider taken a boat down there unless I scouted that place for a while....Even then your playing with fire! I post a report from this trip when I get back!

Also, I live in Cape May NJ..We just take the Cape May/Lewes ferry across the Deleware Bay and pretty much take the coast down...I have visted Cape Hatteras pretty much every year of my life. Hatteras is just south of OI as you know. Cabin fever has set in big time
