Egg plug questions

I've noticed alot of little eggs on the site and think they would just kill the bass in the waters I fish. I have some questions though. All the pics I see are shot from the side. Are these plugs actually egg shaped (straight off the lathe) or are they flattened out on the sides? Is the front narrower than the lip or do you size the egg to the same width? Whats the most common way to weight these little guys? What lip is commonly used? would a pikie#2 lip work? Can someone post some pics from the front, back, etc.? I'm thinking some in peanut bunker pattern would be irresistable.

I know you can pick up the wooden eggs at AC Moores for next to nothing. I'm not sure but i think thats what a lot of guys are using for those lures. They sell them in a couple of different sizes.

I'd also be interested in some info on lips and weights for these too.

The one I got is eggy, not flat on the sides...but its too purty to toss in the water... I have to get the pics up...

Tony Stetzko sr. came out with those back in the early 80's/ had been making them for like 15-20 year's anyway/..he made popper's, swimmer's out of them and would put blades on the tail end for more flash...Jr. said his dad use to hang them all over the x-mas tree....mill store's carry the raw wood egg's as well.

Made a few a year or so ago. Worked great on the Southern beaches and in the fall when the bait was near shore.

Ok, so it seems I can buy wooden eggs from the craft store instead of killing a wooden chicken to get then all at one time

What about lip style and weight placement. I would think that without some weight, maybe near the chin, these things would tend to roll alot. Should weight be added and where is most common?
