I have been thinking about that too. I think with all this crappy weather the water temps might be a little slow to warm up, and maybe keepem from coming on time...But who knows

Eben, look into snow pack levels and heat index (I think that is what it is called). There is not as much snow out there as you would think.

Define early and late.... check you log books the bass show up within 10 days of a central date each year. This has been a snowy winter, but not a terribly cold one . We have this conversation every year and there's always guys who say they'll be late, early...
Last year 1st schoolies showed for me in SE Mass 4/17 the year before it was the 20th... keepers came 5/4 and 5/5 respectively.. with a rumored bass last year 30" on 4/28... didn't see it. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if they're late it will only be a week and if they're early it will only be a few days.... my guess is right on time.... just like every year.... when they show up, it's the right time.

I'm thinking with the cold temps we have had,
I shouldn't have to run far for cod for a while!

I'm more wondering what the overall bait situation will be for Mass once the herring runs are done with.....esp with the more I see about bunker numbers.

I said late earlier in the day and now I'm hoping so as I think I screwed up my right knee not long after my prediction ... I hope those were just ligaments pulling instead of tearing

I agree with Canalman!! It has not been cold at all this year!! The Habore never froze up or anything!!
People get confused with cold and snow.
I say they will be right on time!!

Ahhh - people confuse water temps here with water temps and salinity in the estuaries where these fish spawn well south of us - before heading north... Amount of snow - down there - directly impacts the salinity of rivers like the Susquahana... And, when they move
