Newbie poppers and copies

A couple more new ones. I hope you don't mind being copied by a newbie as I learn the craft. The wood on the Howdys is pretty grainy (unknown species from my scrap pile), and I didn't do a very good job filling all the grain with filler. But then again, I'm just making them to catch fish, not to show or sell.

Thanks again for all your helpful posts.

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm honored. I hollowed out the popper mouths with a rounded off spade bit as learned on this forum. It worked pretty well to rough things out, them I finished them with the Dremel. The scales were made with mesh from Walmart. For 50 cents I got enough to last years. The have a couple different sizes. I have used the small mesh for some needles, and they turned out pretty nice.
