Eyes on Poppers

I was thinking about location of eye on surface plugs.... Anyone ever try a single eye on the bottom of the plug? My thinking is it would be more visible to fish from below, and simulate a wounded fish on it's side.... Any thoughts?

good idea, thought about building some spooks that would come in on their sides, injured baitfish usually flop around surface on their sides. just have to make sure it's known of their intent or the naysayers will say nay. mikecc and i had this conversation a couple of months ago.

I have seen several like this. Tagger does his "gaff plugs" with a single eye on the bottom Also have one from a guy on another site that was done this way. He also painted up the popper so that it resembled a baitfish on its side. Cool idea and does produce. I think a lot has to do with how you work the plug. In the case of the latter baitfish on the side, I just give it a pop here and there to imitate a dying bait.

Try one with eyes all around the head of the plug - A fish don't know how many eyes he has....or how many his food has....

Change is what happens when the pain of holding on becomes greater than the fear of letting go.
