I have a Garmin 160, It has been a great finder!! But today the screen kept going blank?? It would come and go with out notice?
I checked all wires and the transducer looks to be like new (2 years old)
I have contacted Garmin, and I am sure i no what the answer is going to be DOA
So what fish finders do you guys have and like?? I am not looking for nor can I afford High end color!! Just looking for something like I had.
I have been looking at the Garmin 240 http://www.garmin.com/products/ff240/
and the lowrance X47EX http://www.roguewavemarine.com/Lowra...er-p-2601.html

I have used Eagle most of my boating life, but the last two I've purchased both had fogging problems, so as good as they worked at marking fish; it took 2 replacements for both to get them right. I will say that about Eagle however, I sent them both back a combined 5 times, each time they sent me a new unit no questions asked.

I had the eagle lie ML but I did not like so I got rid of it for the Garmin, which has been great!! But only for 2 seasons.

I have the same problem with my Garmin 160. My problem is that I tightened the xducer cable too tight and stripped out a thread or 2 on that big plastic connector at the back of the FF. It's still tight but backs out and shuts the unit down, a quick push on the cable and it powers buck on. It's annoying but cheaper than buying a new one.

I have had several different fishfinders over the years and the Lowrance has been the best so far. I can see a 9 inch storm jig on the screen and follow it to the bottom. As I do more trolling and jigging my trust in it growns.
