Canal This AM...

Never had this happen before, though I assume it might be kind of common.

Got there around 5ish.. almost dead low...

Water started moving, and around 7 got a hit on my eel, definitely felt like a blue with the chomp chomp chomp feeling, released confirming my fears...

2 second later, picked back up.... got it in!

The eel was chomped in half and a nice bass on the hook... Guess the bass was following around his bluefish buddies.

It's always wise to let your eel drop after being bitten by a blue(s). It's not uncommon for bass especially the large lazy girls to be below or just behind a marauding school of blues picking up an easy meal.
