Marshmallows. Stripers dig marshmallows. Add a chocolate teaser and graham cracker hooks, and they'll keep coming back for s'more. Muah hahahahaha!

The worst day fishing is better than the best day working. ...Wait a minute, my work IS fishing. Sweet.

My goal this season was to fish only with plugs that i have made myself- off the top of my head i have about 7 or 10 fish over 20 lbs and somewhere around 20 to 30 fish in the teens, and have lost quite a few more.. this is all from fishing 2 times to 3 times a week since the last month in march
These numbers arent staggering by any means, but i'm happy with the way its going.. i average about 3 fish a night.. sometimes more, sometimes less. All on darters, dannies, & pikies( ohhh cant lie 2 20 lbers came on a yellow MAC pikie )

wait- 3 fish in the teens on a black jointed bomber.. 5 fish on eels

im not counting schoolies in the spring

If you have the ability to build your own and can fish them Go for it!! It's a great feeling to catch fish on something you made. Now as far as better.... Certain lures handle differently than others so you need to know what works and if you can replicate that action with womething you build, Good. Good luck and try different brands and find out what really works.
