Hi guys,
As I love and respect all of your enlightened opinions on fishing (I'm guessing ALL types of fishing, that is), I'm wondering if anybody's got any info or advice as to where to start looking for info on giant tuna fishing in Massachusetts.
I did a lot of schoolie bluefin fishing with the old man in the mid-Eighties in Rhode Island...mostly trolling green machines and Danny plugs; as well as some anchored chunking.
Sorry to cross the "lines," but you guys always help me out immensely with any and all questions.

Hi Rick,
If you go over to On the Water's web page, you can browse through their back issues and find a number of bluefin-related articles...I seem to recall three or four good ones that I read in there at one time or another...when you locate them write down the date of that issue and you can buy just the article for a couple of bucks or buy the back issue.

Or you can run a search here using "bluefin tuna" as the search term and read all about a unique method of shore fishing for bluefin from the banks of the Cape Cod Canal by that noted bluewater sage and former Wunderkind, Patrick.

Rick - couple things - OTW will have some issues like mentioned above. SWS has message boards and you would think they have it but nobody uses their boards.

FW & BC were into school bluefin just outside Boston Harbor last year... Imageing live-linning Macks for Large Bass and getting hooked onto a school freight train!!!

Much of the fishing for Giants occurs 20-30+ miles off Isle of Shoals to the north to well out beyond Cape Cod, I've heard of them roaming Stellwagon too but I don't follow that scene much... Too many eggs, not enough baskets (and a back that couldn't stand to fight a 40mph fish for a couple hours)

Roccus, while that thread will remain one of the more humorous threads EVER to evolve ANYWHERE on the Internet, let's not mention the Pennfield Reefster too much around here. He might think he's actually still missed and then, indirectly, you'll support some of his arguments that he is Da Man in some strange way or another

BTW - Joe Flip, Bill's general fishing buddy, got two big Blue Fin Tuna this year, one was 547 pounds and the second was 732!!! I believe he was a bit off Nantucket at the time, from a boat, far from shore ...

rick, kinda like everything else, the goverment is in on the tuna too. i think this site may be a big help in your search for info. save me a steak or two
