Discover Card Gas Rebate

If you're like me you are looking for every advantage possible when it comes to gas prices. I just had my discover card converted to a gas card which they did for free. I am now getting 5% (not 5 cents, 5 percent) back on all my gas purchases. It will drop down to 3% after a few thousand dollars, and will then drop further after another chunk. But at least for now this will save me a good amount. This amounts to like 12 to 14 cents per gallon. Thought others might like to check into this.

This is just based on experience as I haven't gone to the website or anything, so I could be wrong, but everyone that I know (including myself) that has a Discover of any kind doesn't pay a yearly fee. I think, as a rule, Discover doesn't do yearly fees.

Update. My first post was incorrect. There is a $25000 limit on the gas purchases for the 5% cash back. This is much higher than I thought. Also, the $1500 and $3000 limit are for purchases other than gas. I actually get 5% cash back on the first $1500 in pruchases other than gas and 3% on the next $1500 in purchases other than gas and then 1% thereafter.

Bottom line is this is a very good deal.
