Settle an argument...

My wife says the dead eel I forgot in the car is the worst smell... I don't think it's that bad? Seriously though, I'm basically fish daytime, dusk, dawn mostly and mostly w/ fly and light tackle. Often from kayak. Don't get much large... I fished Beavertail sat. morning w/ eels from 3-7 AM. Got 2, the first 2 I ever caught w/ eels. Only tried them 4 times or so. Had 2 or 3 drop eel before set and had a bigger fish on briefly. The 2 caught were both only 24" and 26"ish. What is a good hook? I was using a 5/0 circle. How do you set drag/ let fish run. I had drag light, felt take, opened bail, waited 3 sec. or so and set. I know I probably was trying to jam hook too hard w/ the circle...
Thanks,
Brian

Nothing is worse than the smell I had in my car last summer....I had asked my son to bring in the groceries out of the trunk of the Car....Didn't notice until 3 weeks later that he forgot the gallon of milk.....when it broke open in the trunk (did I mention it was summer). The ABSOLUTE worse stench I ever smelled.....and it took 3-4 months for the smell to get out of the car

Squid it is!

When I had this 77 chevy van all my gear fit inside it including the bait obviously. For months after I came back from the vineyard she would ride in it because of the rotten squid stink. The juice sucked right into the plywood flooring and it took many weeks for the smell top dissipate. I loved it. Brought back great memories everyday. Used the squid to jig up butterfish. Jeez a small box of squid when properly dried out and rewet everyday for that purposes could last a long time. And the butterfish didn't give a darn.

Before Mike CC's dad bought Cape Cod Charlie's in the 80s, it was owned by a local named Robby Willis. Dunno how it happened, maybe a power failure, but he had a whole freezer full of squid go rancid. Opened the lid, and nearly was floored Full of maggots and whatnot. He and his brother taped it shut with duct tape, and just dropped the whole mess at the dump

My friend John had a bucket of green crabs tip over in the back seat several years ago. You never get them all back..............

Read my post of two days ago........[URL=http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripertalk/showthread.php?t=25605]http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripert...ad.php?t=25605 Nothing......NOTHING......worse then rotten squid.

As an aside, I threw my rotten squid in the woods behind my house Saturday evening. Sunday morning I went out to check on it, and something (skunk, racoon, coyote, whatever) must have been poking around it because I found (1) of the squid moved about 15 feet away from where I left it. It seems that even a wild, hungry animal had to drop that baby and run like hell away from it after only 15 feet thanks to the smell..............

I would say green crabs stink the worse. squid is bad but unless you dump it , its unlikely you'll end up with some in there you don't know about. the probelm with the eels is that they get dumped and then squirm like hell to hide. they can be in there rotten for days and you can't find them in some nook and cranny!
