http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/08/15/h....ap/index.html
some getting up to 230 mpg....
here's a company thats going to make them...
and if nothing else will be a good stock to buy
if and when available...
quote:
Monrovia-based Energy CS has converted two Priuses to get up to 230 mpg by using powerful lithium ion batteries. It is forming a new company, EDrive Systems, that will convert hybrids to plug-ins for about $12,000 starting next year, company vice president Greg Hanssen said.

great article: http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/29/Auto...sels/index.htm
this article explains why a hybrid vehicle is great for around town driving but a regular diesel is better (more economical) for long highway driving, retains its value and lasts longer than a gas vehicle.
so the ultimate combination for the future,,,for a two car family will be to own one diesel vehicle and one hybrid... and that is now my plan.

There was a show on TV about this the other night. Seems if they put the hydrogen in solid form it will be safe with the fuel cells. I think OPEC is buying the idea because they know it is going to take off and no one will need gas.

Nebe - I am willing to bet, they are going to buy the technology to stall its deployment.
It sure seems the hydrogen fuelled vehicles are the future. Electric is just too inconvient and too much electric power is still generated by fossil fuels.
Not sure why natural gas never took off. I can remember the utility company Vermont Gas was running Gas/Natural Gas hybrids in their vans 10 years ago. I thought that was our future.

that is
the BALLS....
[[we should start a thread 100 ways to say fuopec lol...]]
and if opec (buys) "bought" the solid hydrogen technology
to stop it..
it would be time to have a revolution....
not that it isnt already necessary now....
~
i saw a thing on TV about a family that used to live nearby the
Amish and after learning all about their methods...sold everything
including their cars ,quit their jobs , bought a small farm, built a house
and then drove a team of horses and
wagon to do everything!... and achieved freedom like we dream about.
i am begining to like the "idea" more and more and MORE.
