Race Point and Truro

Anyone been to the Race (or the outer beaches) since the tropical storm? It was very "mungy" (unfishable) just before the storm so I was wondering if things have cleaned up or not. The forecast calls for a lot of westerly winds (W, NW, and SW) through this week....so what's the prognostication?

Also, anyone driving the National Seashore beaches? Many parts were closed (ranger station to "the traps"). What about the "east" run to High Head. Any info would be appreciated since I'm heading down on Saturday for a week of fishing.

Keep me posted here (or PM me) if you would.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

I was down LeCounts, Newcombs and Cahoons (Comber is closed for the season ) and there was alot of mung and more surfers.

Nauset Light and Coast Guard in Eastham still have rangers at the guard shacks for a few more weeks on the weekends

I'll be down there as well, but regrettably the N/NE only mungs things up worse, especially on the Truro (outer beaches). Just talked to a charter friend of mine who was fishing around the Race and out back...he said mucho mungo...everywhere.

Thumbs down

fished all last night for two school bass and 3 bluefish. Mung heavy farther south you go and no fish in the clean water. Moon sucks.

Why even try.........

Talked to a the ranger station yesterday about the access as I'll be going down for a weekly permit. He said beach is open from the Race to High Head and Coast Guard South.

Ooops, did I just burn those spots???

The Race and beyond

I'm headed to the Race and Truro for a full week of fishing tomorrow (Saturday). Latest word is that the Seashore is open and the cuts aren't too bad heading from the ranger station to High Head. However, it is VERY weedy (eel grass and mung combined) so the amount of real estate to fish from the beach is very limited. Also, the bait is scarce. We also have some east winds in the near forecast which will just make the beaches worse. Oh well, I can alway jump in my boat.

Was out in the boat on Thursday getting bluefish for tuna bait. Ran from the bath house well beyond High Head and almost to the Coast Guard station in Truro looking for blues. Had to work very hard, but got our bait. I saw much, much weed in the water and not a lot of activity seen (birds etc.). But I got the week off from work so I gotta go. I'll try to post an update during the week (no spot burning though )
