basement fishing
How many of you woke up today to find a previously uncharted body of water downstairs? Don't despair ! Try small spoons ,bucktails and sometimes poppers will work near structure, like the oil tank. Lunkers sometimes wait in ambush under the stairs. If you have fly fishing gear try to match the hatch with spider egg decievers with cobweb flash. Maybe you didn't get water at your place? Well not to spot burn ,but there should be plenty of action in the streets if Johnston ,potential blitz action there.

Tried to get to the market to get frosting for today's cookies...road to the south blockaded...feet and feet of water. Tried the market north...dummies trying to brave the rapids running across the main road...knew my car wouldn't make it...took the long way. I'm close to flooded in, but I'll be darned if I don't go to the BBQ and at least make an attempt at fishing today. I think I need to get a instead of my Escort.

My dad's chimney cap blew off he now has a nasty black sloppy mess on the floor of his furnace room and he has a leak somewhere in the sidewall on the north side of his house(I think) resulting in a collapsed ceiling in the same room.
Not much can be done about either at the moment other than clean it up and stay on top of it.

For the first time in my house, there is a touch of wetness. Not enough to mop or even clean with a paper towel, just a little dampness...
The brook near my house is almost or just over the street in a couple places, Warwick Ave by 117, LakeShore is under behind the airport, and 117 next to Demos has some water...

As much as I curse at my 160', 25 degree slope uphill driveway in the winter, during weather spells like this, I appreciate the benefit of living 60' above street

suprisingly my basement is dry and sump hasn't even gone off yet. But most of EG roads are flooded here or there. There is a river raging over the street outside my neighborhood. that road (south rd.) is closed just west of me. i think it it will wash out soon if it hasn't allready. Tilinghast is flooded over in two spots and closed. Frenchtown also in several spots. Most of downtown eg also flooded in areas from what the dpw guys closing the streets told me. yet somehow people are still finding their way to my garage sale.

Just got home from cleaning up my dad's.Not to bad considering.Poked my head up into the ceiling and couldn't see where the water comes in.This only seems to happen when there is a driving rain from a northerly direction leading me to believe that there's a sidewall leak. Its a good thing I work for a construction company.

I think if I got kicked in the nuts it would feel better. Just spent over 15 grand in the basement making a playroom for the kids. Carpet is wet in a small section and the otherside is 2 inches deep. Good thing I decided to renovate the higher side....
I love hydraulic cement.

Lots of water here in the ole basement...Me and my dad have been trying to keep the water out all day. 2 inches of water this morning covering the floor. Shop vacs can only take so much out at once! What a freakin mess. First time this has ever happened here.

pain in the butt
i have tons of work to do yet...everythings wet ,carpet...boxes, and if i don't get things dry i will have mildew ,mold ...and even more water damage....
it rained like no tomorrow last night here.... and even though i'm on top of the mountain the hydro power pushed water down and then back up again from under the slab through a gravel bed ....and there is no sump pump.
i've been running a tube heater to help dry things out.
to quote bigfish: .I am pleased with this little test!
Larry glad your house is high and dry... bravo
this is the most rain we've ever had in recorded history for the month of october,,,,and it aint over yet.... next comes the high winds @ 7 pm

I awoke to fine that I had waterfront property. Flooded the garage and finished basement with about 18". Apparently the three foot outlet pipe for the little stream behind my house clogged, the water rose, collapsed the road and the road effectively dammed the stream. Some parts of my yard were under about 5 feet. What a crappy day,

Best regards,
Roger

Along the coast in NJ every shore town has these little ponds to act as catch basins when it rains. It is up to some town employee to open up the outflo pipe to the ocean in anticipation of a good rain.well for some reason three towns never got the pipe to the ocean opened up.belmar has 2 ponds one in town an one at the south end that was not open'd.they have a pump goin wit a pipe accross ocean ave to drain down the one lake.Deal lake borders Asbury park an Loch Arbor.probably the Nicest part of asbury an a very nice area across the lake many homes under water. My friend lives in Belmar he has water up to his floor joist's his garage much like mine is loaded wit gear has 30 " of water in it.It came real fast thursday night friday morn as it rained hard all night.there are alot of cars total'd along wit lots of house damage. As many where caught off guard.they can't near the pipe to open it now its way too dangerous.Someone's gonna pay as damage's will reach record amounts.15 inches of rain in 8 days.alot are sayin worst storm ever.
