Canal fishing Wed. AM
I'll be flying into pvd Tues. night and be heading over the canal at around 2 AM so i figured i'd finally get a line wet. It's sad that I live on the Cape but I haven't fished the canal in 2 years. It'll be pretty much max ebb. Any suggestions on plug type/color?
Thanks Pete

4-5 oz jigs
black
black/red
with pork rinds or curly grub tails
unless of course you see some top water action
then it's all big wood.......

Calcutta baits will work just as well but you need to get the jig/rubbah to the bottom to catch fish and a 2.5oz-3oz rubbah just wont cut it (in certain locations). I was tossing a 4oz jig the other night and it did not make it to the bottom....slapped on a 6oz rubbah and it made it. My shoulders were burning by the end of the night.

white bucktails for day and black bucktails for night assorted from 1-4oz,some big sluggos, fin-s-fish on jig heads from 2-4oz bounced over bottom. if you spot fish on top get em with big pencils and polaris poppers or whip some tin out there to get below the school and into some bigger fish
