Rosa Parks

I was very happy to see Rosa honored with so much attention this week. I think its odd that in American culture the "yes" man is very often the one that gets reconginition and success. Our kids are taught to comform and not rebel. Our country was founded by people that said FU to the world and did things their way. Rosa Parks stood (or rather sat) for what she beleived in and changed thsi country. Long live her memory adn what she stood for!

I Wholeheartedly Agree....That took Guts to do what she did. I sat down and talked to both of my kids and explained to them what it meant when she did that.

Thumbs up she was brave

thats for sure.... because in those times any black person that broke the rule or even bent them was severely punished. when i was down in Cummings Georgia workin in quarries, there was the story about a big landowners daughter that was raped and it was blamed on a black man. In reality it
was a white man that was responsible. Anyway's the towns people (super angry) gave all the blacks til sunday to leave Cummings, Georgia or be hung. 90 % left and the ten percent that stayed were brutalized and some were hung. 100 years later the racial tension was still so strong that it was common knowledge that after dark you'll see no blacks in that town.
Thats where the civil rights marches often started too.
so for Rosa to flat refuse to give up her seat, (in those days) took extreme courage and she should be definately be honored.
