Not As Many 50's This Season?
Seems like this season was kind of lean in regards to the amount of 50 pounders caught from the surf! (At least those reported!) I can only recall a few caught this season.....Bob Motta got his in the spring, the Tony twins got a couple I heard whispers about late in the season......but it seems that over all....just not many over 50 taken?
Any thoughts, comments or commentary?
I am not focusing on just Mass.....but I don't think many were taken from the suds anywhere along the coast...I might be wrong but lets hash this out for fun!

Undoubtedly, there were 3-4 times as many 50's taken in Cape Cod waters this year than last. The best I know of was 62.4

I don't know about surf caught, but the guys on the boats seemed to catch more than I ever heard of before. Just last week there were four caught and all on the same day and all in the same boat!

There were a lot more 50's caught this year than reported. the boats did some real big work on the big ladies. I think the problem is that when someone reports a large fish the masses get crazy and inundate the beach or area that the fish was taken or reportedly taken from. It is almost like spot suicide and there is enough of that already. I believe that the guys/gals getting the majority of the 50's are diehards and have seen first hand what reporting major fish can do to a spot that has been producing with little pressure. Telling one person or showing the slob in a busy tackle shop can lead to a disaster later on down the road.
