Cox for $15/month

cox is now offering a deal where you get high speed internet at dsl speed 768/225K for $15 per month for up to a year. i signed up for it because i couldn't get verizion dsl. because we already have cox phone & cable we save another $10 each month. i can pick up the modem and self install on monday

My only problem is that i'm not sure if i have a 10/100 base T ethernet card. How do i find out for sure if i have one??? I have a open phone jack next to my modem, but i think it's for a fax.

I know they sell the cards for around $20....are they hard to install???
also saw that they sell other 'adapters' that work off the usb port. are these as fast as the card? ive only got usb 1

Please advise as i want to cancel my dialup service before i get billed for another month on monday.

If you're computer was built within the last 3yrs you more than likely have one.The port looks exactly like a phone jack just bigger.

The ethernet jack looks like a phone jack but is bigger...RJ45 connector.

If you dont have one install is EASY...pop it in a and XP should auto detect.

USB is even easier...just plug it in and follow instructions.

I don't want to get you freked out, but make sure your anti-virus is current and windows updates are done before you go surfing around. You are more likely to run into threats now, especially since you will probably be spending more time online, and going to more sites, just be careful.
