Yozuri Raised prices
Any of you guys use Yozuri Get them now.
They raised their prices from 25%-60% In some cases on Mag series we are selling below this years current wholesale price.
I along with a lot of shops will no longer be carring their Product selection.
For those of you who want to send Yozuri a note telling them about their prices.

Never bought Yo-Zuris much anyway... felt all along the price was way over their value vs. other plugs/ options!
And I say that at the same time I say that Habs, Tattoo, Pt. Jude, Bernzy, #^^^^^^^^^^^&, RI Popper, Lifishinvt, & the smaller customs are definitely worth their price! Give me enough quality & workmanship & uniqueness & consistent action, and I'll be willing to pay "high" prices! YoZuri going MORE expensive will only help the great U.S. brands named above to sell more! Good news to me!

Pfft...High priced anything.
Sheeeet you can carve your own, you know.
Melt down a few milk jugs from Cumberland Farms and whittle out a Mag Darter or two while your watchin' TV.
Don't forget to prep the cold frame and move it to your house's southern exposure so you can start some cabbage and carrots - it's almost time. Nothin like fresh, brazed cabbage and carrot casserole on those cold mornings before going out subsistence fishing.

Hmmm. I still like them.
Well I use a load of them but 99% from a boat. I think I keep one in my big surf bag. They work great on bones, albies, king Macs and small tuna out my way. They are a very well made consistant lure, come stock with good hooks, IMO perhaps one of the best plastics going take a real beating and keep working even when they are stripped bare. I bet if you polled the boats out at the hooter most would have yo-zuri attached.
I will whine about the price but still buy them. Perhaps look for alternatives. They have their place on board my boat. Will not effect my surfcasting much though...that is 85% wood anyway.
Somehow I don't think a boycott will effect their bottom line, they are big in the freshwater buisness as well. yo-zuri is here to stay.

too easy
but, all the guys that ask "what do I do to my wiggly when the lip breaks off", that are too damn lazy to make one to replace it, try this.. action like a Yo-Mag.. a Yo-Tony, so to speak.
threw the back half in the dumpster at the parking lot, would be too small for the needles I need.

If I owned a gas station I'd raise the price right now - even though I did not pay the premium for what I have on hand.
But I don't so I won't.....

I actually sent Yo-Zuri an e-mail last month asking why they increased their prices $5 (from $10 to $15) on the Mag Series and they responded that it was caused by a dramatic increase in the cost of the materials the internal balls are made of (tungsten I think).

The market will balance out. I'm sure once sales drop dramatically they'll switch to bismuth coated magnets or something else for the Mag series. I ran out of "old school" priced stock quite a ways back, sales have of course dropped off...

I sent them an e-mail. Let's see if they respond. I use a lot of Yozuri lures. Wood is good but there are nights....... The Tobimaru and Mag Minnows are seeker plugs in my bag. When all else fails, especially at the turn of the low into the start of the incoming on the outer beach the mags find fish worked very slowly on bar edges. Conservatively, I have over fifty Yo's in my stash. For instance the large Blue/black darter under a new moon in the fall is always one up on other plugs if they aren't eating needles. Add a black redgill and it just gets better.
Wood is good but it is not all there is. I still throw vintage 7 and 5 inch Rebels and 7 inch loaded Red fins can save the night when the wind is in your face and the Atlantic is in a foul mood. Hellcats by Heddon in yellow with a redface were for years the lure du jour in the CCBay.
You can limit yourself to wood and supporting the lure manufacturers who sponsor this site but even they would tell you to carry some plastic. I once asked Stan Gibbs if he could only have two lures to fish the beach with what would they be? He looked straight at me and without a hint of hesitation said" a blue and silver rebel and a black and silver rebel Steve". That said something.

Why even try.........

I found a stash of old school emp minnows, these differ from the new ones due to the lip, I doped these up. and can flash these lures like the real deal.
when i dope them up as they need to be as the hooks cant handle large fish, and it alters the action alittle bit due to the vmc's weight.
they produce and have there spot in time, i like the mag series also an the emper series.
I have a wall of plastic and it all gets used and iffems i need a plug
Im buying it cause Im Awsome

I received a reply from Paul Michele of Yo-Zuri. Here's what it said...
Robert,
We received and read your email. Where did you hear this information? It is not entirely true. Also if you like and sell our products do to personal and consumer demand why do you feel it is necessary to drop the entire line? Even if it is a 5% increase you make that much more product on an item that already sells….
I would certainly like to hear more from you and your opinion.

I deleted the response I got last month from Yo Zuri but the answer I got said the increase was true & due to price of the internal balls, and the rep apologized for the increase but said it was necessary.

I got the same response from him word for word.
I showed him were the increases were. And he did not deny it. The facts are the whole line up did only go up 60% just the mags. Most other saltwater lures took a 22%-30% increase. The freshwater lures only took a 5% jump.

The price hike on the Mag Darter is what I'm most upset about too. A 3 ounce version of that thing would be incredible.
